The waiting game

A few weeks ago I did something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time – I ordered an Ancestry DNA kit. And now the waiting begins. A friend recently received their results; it took on the early end of the suggested 6-8 week wait time. The site DNA Processing Time shows user submitted data on processing times from submission to arrival to lab processing to done. My test arrived on June 29th and is still waiting to start lab testing.

I have been researching my family history for years, and know quite a bit about my ancestors. If my research is correct I should discover that most of my family comes from Ireland, Germany, and Poland. It will be interesting to see how true that is, and the percentages of each.

Another tool that comes with your results are possible DNA matches with others who have been tested. Time will tell if I have some new cousins to discover. I’m expecting to know around the end of August. I’ll keep you posted.
